A British mother married to a Greek man who took their 4-year-old son to Corfu in the middle of a custody dispute is appealing for help in finding the child she said has been hidden away by his father. Emma Lignum said she hasn’t seen her son, John, since last May, when his father, Achilles Mouzakitis, took him.
“I do not know if my son is well, or if he is alive. I wonder all the time what’s happening. Is he ok? How does he feel? I think of everything,” she said. Lignum said she met her husband when she worked in Greece as a representative of a British tourist company. She left her country and moved to Athens in 2007. John was born a year later.
Despite the couple’s inability to get along and confrontations, Lignum said she decided to trust her ex-husband and left her son with him for 15 days. Just before entering the plane to UK, she said she realized they had both gone. She said her former husband called her to say they were on the island of Corfu.
The weeks passed, and there was no trace of her son. She said she went to her former spouse’s village in Corfu but didn’t find either of them and is asking for the public’s help in locating them.
